Steve Olson, Interim Pastor
Email: pastor@gsholmen.org

Steve Olson is a retired pastor with 36 years of ministry experience.  He has served parishes in Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Georgia.  Since retiring from full time ministry in 2020, he has been privileged to serve as a vacancy pastor at three different congregations - two in Wisconsin and another in California.  He enjoys helping congregations prepare for their new pastor and has met a lot of new Christian friends through these experiences.  Steve and his wife Gina live in Onalaska.  Their greatest joy in their retirement years is spending time with the families of their 5 married children and their grandchildren.  Steve loves the work of the ministry - there’s nothing more enjoyable than sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with others whether they are long time Christians or brand new friends wanting to know who Jesus is.  What a privilege it is for Steve to serve at Good Shepherd as an interim pastor!

Tammy Melott and her husband Mike live in Galesville, WI.  In 1987 she graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.  Her first call was to South Milwaukee, WI where she spent the first 20 years of her teaching career at Zion Lutheran School.  During that time, she taught first grade, third grade and worked in the daycare 2-year-old room.  She also enjoyed running the VBS program.  The next 14 years she taught a 5-day pre-k program at Ascension Lutheran Preschool in Plymouth, MN.  She was director for 7 of those years, and also directed the summer program and the before and after school care.  Due to a job relocation for her husband, they moved back to WI in 2021.  Tammy became an assistant teacher at First Lutheran in La Crescent, MN and has done extended subbing there as well.  She has also enjoyed subbing at area Lutheran grade schools.  God blessed their marriage with three children, all of which are married.  Tammy and Mike truly enjoy being grandparents and travel whenever possible to visit the grandkids.  Tammy looks forward to being a part of the early childhood ministry here at Good Shepherd, and is excited to bring God’s message of salvation to his little lambs and their families through this ministry.
